7 October 2009

Congratulations to Maurice!  He is our student of the week.

Thank you to the Rocha, Arceo, Rosas, Smith, Baker, Enriquez, and Candia         families for helping to make the Nursery Rhyme Olympics such a success!  Our kick off assembly for the Jump for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association is Friday at 1:05 p.m. and the event will be held on October 23.  Please feel free to join us if you like.

Our high frequency words this week are I and the colors (red, blue, green, purple, orange, white, black, and yellow).  We are focusing on the beginning sound /s/, capitalizing the beginning of a sentence and placing punctuation at the end.  In math we are wrapping up our unit reading, writing and identifying numbers to 5.  We have also been working on our handwriting skills.  Attached you will find a guide and a piece of handwriting paper for practice.

I am in the process of scheduling parent conferences.  I am trying to schedule them immediately before or after school for parents who drop off or pick up their child.  For those who don’t, I will do my best to make arrangements for you that are as convenient as possible.  I look forward to sharing with you how awesome your children are!

Kindergarten Rocks!!!
